A string of several standard-gauge box cars is located in the north end of the Mt. Union yard. These box cars once belonged to the U.S. Army and date to the World War 2 period. They were purchased by Kovalchick Salvage Co. and parked here sometime in the 1960's. Since their truck wheels are cast instead of forged, they are not allowed to be used on current standard-gauge trains. One or more of these boxcars have internal damage from fires being set inside them.
